The One Remaining Piece of "An Orphan"

An Orphan (1929):  A 1929 Shanghai Movie, about a woman's hard life and subsequent heroic rescue. Silent, B&W, with original Chinese and English intertitles.  There is some question as to what year it was made.  There is no question that it is a Chinese silent!:

Maven may have come across the first horror movie made in China, in 1937 . . . Song at Midnight and directed by Ma-Xu Weibang.  The Chinese title is Ye ban ge sheng:

Maven also discovered an early monster/sci fi entry of
The Monster (1903 - 2:51 minutes)
A very early movie by Georges Méliès,
aka Le Monstre and short to boot:

Powerful music brings a great movie to life! The music in this version of the 1927 German silent classic matches the action & emotion of the film better than any other I've heard. Music is by Alexander Nemtin, after Scriabin, for Preparation for the Final Mystery and Nuances. Metropolis, city of the future: In Part 1, we see the stark contrast between the lives of the workers and the rulers. All is about to change as the Ruler's son, Freder, falls in love with Maria. To hear more of this music, ask Decca to reissue its 3 CD set conducted by Ashkenazy. Buy the Kino DVD Metropolis to see the most complete version of this film available now.:

Maven was rooting around her files and came across these links for Nosferatu, Eine Symphonie Des Grauens (the 1922 German version of Bram Stoker's Dracula [1897]).:

LOUISE BROOKS

Maven has come across a series of clips that not only has Louise Brooks from the 20s movie scene but an interview with Brooks in an interview, later in her life, talking about her early films:
A must see for any serious student of Hollywood in the 1920s.
