Check out the rather expensive details for the house that stood in for the front of the House on Haunted Hill (1959 with Vincent Price)!

Ennis-Brown House

The Ennis-Brown House Has Been Sold!
For More Information:

Ennis-Brown House Sold

Maven has come across two links about the Ennis-Brown House.  One is a blog that has some increcible shots inside at http://laplaces.blogspot.com/2009/03/los-feliz-frank-lloyd-wright-houses.html.
The other has photographs plus a history of the house that includes the restoration of this Los Angeles (and Hollywood) landmark at http://bigorangelandmarks.blogspot.com/2008/06/no-149-ennis-brown-house.html.
According to this website, the house has been stabilized but will still need around $10,000,000 (2008 US dollars) to "rehabilitate" the landmark.
Looking at these pictures makes you wonder what Vincent Price's House on Haunted Hill would have been like if they had used the actual interiors of the house!

WRECK OF THE WEEK:*

The house that you see at the beginning of The House on Haunted Hill (1959, with VINCENT PRICE) is the Ennis Brown House in Los Angeles, CA.

This is the entrance of the house that is on the eleven (11) most endangered buildings on the National Trust.  [The link is no longer available but you can check their site at www.nationaltrust.org.]  The restoration is estimated at $5,000,000 [2006 USD].

You might also want to check out more about the house at www.preservationnation.org/magazine/2005/november-december/ennis-anyone.html.

Maven also discovered the outside of  Ennis Brown House was also used in Female (1933) with Ruth Chaterton. . . .  For more information just click on the Ennis-Brown House link at www.imdb.com/title/tt0051744/locations.
