"Witch's Dungeon" (C) Dates Poster

Maven has been very lucky to know Cortlandt Hull and Dennis Vincent and their great work over at The Witch's Dungeon(C) and his www.preservehollywood.org, which you can access by clicking on Dennis Vincent's portrait of Nosferatu at the top of this page.

And if you're anywhere in the area for Halloween, check out his Museum at 90 Battle Street, Bristol, CT   06010!

Cortlandt's not the only member of the family to travel in horror movie circles since his great-uncle was Henry Hull, of Werewolf of London (1935), and great-aunt Josephine Hull, of Arsenic and Old Lace (1944) also have made their formidable presences known.

I recently got an email from Cortlandt Hull and his partner, Dennis Vincent, about some advance clips on "You Tube" . . . .  These are definitely worth checking out!

"All Those Priceless Faces" - a tribute on Vincent Price that Cortlandt did in 1988 on the old 3/4" U-matic tape, not a clear as digital, but was done for The Mystery Writers of America: when they gave him the "Raven" award.  As Vincent said, 'It was only a matter of time, befoe someone gave me - The Bird!'

"June Foray, voice of our "Zenobia, the gypsy witch:

"We wrote an article about James Bama the Aurora model kit cover artist, for 'Monster Kid On-line Magazine', as Bama is in our new documentary.  It is now up on the 'Monster Kid' site - go to:  http://www.gammillustrations.bizland.com/monsterkid7/bama1.htm

"Long before 'You Tube' I did two film shorts in 16mm for the 'Famous Monsters' convention in 1975 (yes, I'm as ancient as "Kharis") - showed up on this site.  [Actually, Maven found three shorts, two of which with Frank Sinatra singing!]  Scroll down, to the 'Rendevous' film shorts . . . .  Go to:  http://universalhorrorsounds.blogspot.com/

"Below is the new Witch's Dungeon dates poster for this year.  Also the images below of the classic monsters ae paintings Dennis did of our life size figures.  Things are getting hectic!  Please pass on poster to others.

"Happy Halloween - Cortlandt & Dennis"

There is another link here at Maven's page at
for more information about Cortlandt's Great Uncle Henry Hull in D.W. Griffith's One Exciting Night (1922).  It took Maven years to get a copy and even then it's on VHS tape but . . . Maven never knew that Henry Hull was such a hunk!

Maven is pleased to bring a very special goodie to the pages of The Old Movie Maven!
Cortlandt Hull has been building a museum-quality collection of horror that he has been compiling since he was a child forty years ago and with the help of bouth of his parents.  Later Cortlandt met Dennis Vincent and a cinematic union was made in their The Witch's Dungeon: 40 Years of Chills(C)!

Maven has a copy of their documentary that recounts Cortlandt's interest and burgeoning career as not only a collector of horror memorabilia but a creator in his own right of many replicas of the actors in their horror roles.

Cortlandt contacted such people as June Foray, the voice for such characters as "Cindy Lou Who" in How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966), Rocky the Flying Squirrel and Natasha Fatale in Rocky and His Friends (1959 - 1060) and as "Zenobia"(C) . . . THE Witch of The Witch's Dungeon(C)!!

Christopher Lee also has a sizable part about his own career in the aforementioned documentary and the list goes on!

Cortland also covers the makeup industry, both his own work that includes teachint the subject and that of other makeup artists who's work has been known for decades . . . .

The Witch's Dungeon(C) has a rather special treat in the person doing the voice-over as host to great the guests at the Dungeon . . . Vincent Price . . . who was just one of the many actors who befriended Cortlandt and supported his mission to keep Horror Movies and their associated actors and memorabilia before the public!
